To a large extend Chablis doesn’t have the same level of desirability as the great whites of the Cote de Beaune. However, in the hands of the two greatest estates in Chablis: Dauvissat and Raveneau these wines compare favourably with the very best of the Cote de Beaune. Both craft wines that exemplify the very summit of Chablis combining richness with a crisp steeliness along with long, complex, generous and nuanced flavours.
Ultimately, it comes down to subjectivity and preferences when trying to determine differences between these two iconic domains. For me, generically the Raveneau wines tend to be a shade more opulent than those of Dauvissat, but why split hairs when both are magnificent.
We are pleased to be able to offer a small range of wines from both and in the case of Dauvissat, only Grand Crus including a 5 vintage vertical of Les Clos. From Raveneau there are a few bottles from all 3 Grand Crus (Les Clos, Blanchot & Valmur) along with two top Premier Crus (Butteaux & Montée de Tonnerre) and a case of the village Chablis from the youngest vines.
