1961 Vintage: General Appreciation |
In a similar way to the 1959’s, 1961 was another outstanding success in many French regions and in Burgundy, it was a small vintage with the best wines being some of the most long-lived. In general the 61’s do not have the uniformity of the 1959’s with some lacking the breadth and generosity associated with the very best vintages. |
Red Wines |
The best of the reds are fruit-driven and balanced though this was by no means uniform so selection is key to enjoyment here. |
White Wines |
Perhaps, as a general rule the whites were a shade better and more even though it will be tough to find some examples that are drinking well now. |
