1962 Vintage: General Appreciation |
This was right from the start a better overall vintage to 1961 and at their best touching the star quality of the 59’s. It was a successful growing season finishing with warm weather through August and September and the Réasonably abundant harvest was relatively late starting on 5th October. Rich and fruity and at their best compared with a vintage like the 1985’s. |
Red Wines |
The best of the reds are plump, rich and vibrant that had an immediately forward and charming quality whilst having the capacity for serious aging. Perhaps, they lacked the structure compared with the 59’s but they were beautifully elegant with great finesse. Some are still reputed to be drinking well now. |
White Wines |
Again, very successful for the whites in this relatively late harvest the grapes were ripe providing rich, fullish wines with positive acidity and perhaps were even better than the 59’s. |
