1966 Vintage: General Appreciation
The 1966’s did not match either the 59’s or 64’s in outright quality but especially in the case of the red wines they were stylish, supple, round and well-balanced. There was much to like about the 66’s and the best wines are still drinking now.
Red Wines
The reds were succulent and elegant with lively rich fruits with the best really harmonious and still drinking now though, they are a touch faded.
White Wines
This was a good vintage for the whites which were nicely perfumed with good fruits and acidy making them splendidly balanced. Some top wines have survived but they are difficult to find.
